I can't tell you how many cheap charcoal grills I've left for the garbage truck when I started using gas grills that after maybe one refurbishing met the same fate, it is probably safe to say I'm anything but a Grill Master, over done and dry or under done was the rule rather than the exception to say there was no pride in it for me is an understatement. This summer my wife and I adopted the low carbohydrate eating lifestyle and the quality of what we're eating became more important, having absolutely no experience with smoked meats other than consuming them I turned to the information highway (Google) and typed in "smokers" and began researching all kinds of smokers then I discovered the Big Green Egg and I remembered seeing them on TV being used at many of those BBQ championships and reading the testimonials of others who have bought one I came to the conclusion that even a ham fisted burger burner like myself could actually cook something I was proud of. I've had my BGE for a week now and I've smoked/grilled steaks, hamburgers, pork chops and last night a whole chicken using various kinds of wood chips and the results were better than my greatest expectations and I now understand why the BGE has such a devoted following. I have never personally cooked a Turkey but this Thanksgiving I volunteered to do the honors and if this Turkey turns out half as good as the chicken did I'll probably be asked by all "how did you make this?" They say word-of-mouth is the best advertisement and I'm sure some of my family will be wanting to know a lot more about the Big Green Egg, it's the best money I've ever spent and it's the last grill I'll ever own.
